There was a particular kind of silence that existed only in the Wurzeralm mountains.
I remember standing there with my camera, watching the light slowly move across the landscape. Nothing was happening, and yet I didn't want to leave.
This photograph was made in that moment — when the mountains, the day light and the quiet became one.

I stayed there a little longer. The light had changed, almost without me noticing. The mountains looked different now, softer somehow, as clouds began to move slowly across the sky. I lifted my camera again. Sometimes a photograph appears when you stop looking for it.

I continued walking. The path disappeared into the landscape, surrounded by grass, rocks and the distant sound of the wind.
There was nowhere I needed to be. The journey itself was enough.

Further along, the mountains opened.
The view became larger than I had expected, and for a moment I simply stood there, trying to take it all in. I took this photograph because I knew I would want to remember the feeling of being so small in such a vast place.

The weather began to change. Everything became darker, then brighter again.
I waited. I have met a local who lived in the small village right in the middle of the mountains. The mountains seemed to have their own rhythm, and I was happy to follow it.

A little later, I found myself standing in front of his home. There was something beautiful about the simplicity of the place. A small house surrounded by mountains, quietly existing in a world that seemed far removed from everything else.

I saw him again, standing in front of the house. For a moment, the photograph became about something more than the mountains.
It was about the person who had chosen to make a life there, surrounded by the same peaks I had spent the day photographing.
I wondered how different the mountains must look when you see them every morning.
When they are no longer something you came to find, but something you wake up beside.

From there, I continued into the village. Everything felt quiet and familiar, even though I had only just arrived.
There was a feeling that time moved differently here. I walked slowly, taking it in, knowing that places like this are remembered through the smallest details.

I left the village and walked back towards the mountains. The further I went, the quieter it became again. The houses slowly disappeared behind me, and the landscape opened in front of me.
I had the feeling that I was returning to where the journey had begun.
Only now, I was seeing it differently.

The fog began to move through the mountains. At first, it was only a thin layer in the distance, slowly covering the landscape.
The familiar shapes began to disappear.

By then, the fog had taken almost everything with it. The mountains, the paths, the distance — everything became softer, quieter, almost dreamlike. I could barely see where one thing ended and another began.
